Purpose of this documentation
The purpose of this documentation is to assist you in configuring and programming closed-loop control tasks with the S7-1200 and S7-1500 automation systems.
Basic knowledge required
To properly use the information contained in this documentation, the following knowledge is necessary:
● General knowledge of automation technology
● Knowledge of the SIMATIC industrial programmable controller
● knowledge of the use of STEP 7 (TIA Portal)
Scope of the documentation
This documentation applies when using software controllers on the CPUs of the S7-1200 and S7 1500 automation systems in conjunction with STEP 7 (TIA Portal). When using S7-300 and S7-400 with STEP 7 (TIA Portal), further software controllers are available. They are not the subject of this documentation. The section Overview of software controllers (Page 37) provides an overview of all software controllers in STEP 7 (TIA Portal) and their implementation options.
